Meet Your Guide:

Captain Tom Sullivan

Welcome to Sullivan's Fishing Guide Service! I've spent the last 20 years chasing fish on the beautiful rivers of West Michigan. From Salmon, to Steelhead, to Smallmouth Bass, and Catfish too. If it's a trophy sized fish that puts up a great fight then that's what I love to catch. I moved to West Michigan to attend Grand Valley State University for a teaching degree and fell in love with river fishing. Since then every chance I get I am on the river fishing for whatever is in season. My passion is getting anglers into some of the hardest fighting fish found in freshwater. Whether you've never been fishing in your life or if you're an avid angler, I will provide a great experience each trip!

"We had an incredible day fishing the Pere Marquette River with Tom this fall—truly one of the best days I’ve ever spent on the water. Tom put us on the fish right away, and by the end of the day we had landed a whole bunch of king salmon, which was an unforgettable experience for all of us. Tom is calm, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. I brought my two daughters (ages 10 and 7), and Tom was phenomenal with them—patient, encouraging, and genuinely excited to help them learn and succeed.

My 10-year-old is fairly experienced for her age, and Tom took the time to teach her new techniques and tips that she’s still talking about. The trip was completely full-service, from expert guidance on the water to cleaning the fish afterward, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable guide who’s great with families, serious anglers, or anyone wanting an exceptional day on the Pere Marquette, I can’t recommend Tom highly enough. We’re already looking forward to booking another trip with him."

More About The Rivers We Fish:

- Muskegon River: Located only 40 miles from Downtown Grand Rapids the "Mighty Muskegon River" makes for a great day trip to chase fish. It's a large river with a variety of habitat and flows winding 50+ miles from Croton Dam to Muskegon Lake. Depending on the season and where the fish are, we fish the entire river system from the dam to the lake. With its close proximity to Grand Rapids, the Muskegon River is truly a gem helping you feel like you're worlds away from the city with the beautiful water and scenery.

- White River: Located about 60 miles from Downtown Grand Rapids the White River is a great option for fishing a smaller river that can hold some very quality salmon and steelhead. We focus on the lower stretches of the White River where we can still fish from the comfort of our jet boat, and where the migratory fish are fresh in their run upstream.

- The Pere Marquette RiverThe Pere Marquette River is about 100 miles from Downtown Grand Rapids and is known as one of the most beautiful rivers in the state. We fish a wide variety of water on the Pere Marquette River, and even venture out into Pere Marquette Lake. Depending on conditions, we begin fishing for king salmon on the Pere Marquette River and in Pere Marquette Lake in mid to late August.

- The Manistee RiverIf you're looking for a true fishing get-away to Northern Michigan the Manistee River is trip you need to experience. Surrounded by National Forest, the Manistee River is full of scenery and beautiful water. We fish the lowest stretches of the Manistee River targeting early season salmon in August and September, and then early season steelhead in October and Early-November. Note: We only fish the Manistee River for two-day trips. Reach out HERE to contact for more information.
